El grupo inversor brasileño BTG Pactual adquirió activos de Weyerhaeuser en Uruguay, el Estudio participó en el proceso de adquisición, incluyendo la auditoría de los aspectos jurídicos, tributarios, contables y notariales, así como la negociación de todos los contratos.

Proskauer Rose LLP in New York and Posadas, Posadas & Vecino in Montevideo have helped a consortium led by Brazilian bank BTG Pactual’s timber fund buy US real estate investor Weyerhaeuser’s Uruguayan timberlands and manufacturing business for US$403 million.

Weyerhaeuser, one of the world’s largest private owners of timberlands, hired Ferrere (Uruguay). The investor is also thought to have worked with Perkins Coie LLP in Seattle, but this was not confirmed before publication.

The sale is the largest agribusiness transaction in Uruguayan history and the largest ever deal where entire ownership of an asset has changed hands. It was announced on 5 June, but is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2017.

The transaction includes more than 300,000 acres of timberlands in north-eastern and central Uruguay, as well as a plywood and veneer manufacturing facility, a cogeneration facility, and a seedling nursery.
